• AMSTERDAM: Mondrian 100 Years De Stijl in Keukenhof garden Amsterdam

In 2017, the Netherlands celebrate the founding 100 years ago of the artistic movement "de Stijl" by Dutch artist Piet Mondrian (1872-1944).

100 years of creativity and innovation in Leiden
Leiden is the birthplace of De Stijl, and so will play a key part.

From June 2 til August 27 2017, Museum De Lakenhal presents Open Air Museum De Lakenhal. 100 Years after De Stijl, featuring works by contemporary artists on the Pieterskerkhof (Peter's Church Square), located in the historical centre of Leiden.

De ambitie van Piet Mondriaan (1872-1944) was grenzeloos.

Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) Maestro dell'astrazione geometrica, figura centrale del movimento d'avanguardia olandese - De Stijl - (lo STILE), insieme al pittore Theo van Doesburg con il quale fondò nel 1917 l'omonima rivista, tesa verso la ricerca delle ARMONIE universali tra tutte le discipline.

Gli Artisti di De Stijl sognavano di far cadere tutte le separazioni tra pittura, scultura, architettura, urbanismo, design, per organizzare un mondo geometrico dove il colore crea lo spazio.

DE STIJL ET LE NÉOPLASTICISME

Le mouvement d'avant-garde hollandais De Stijl (Le Style) constitue une clef de lecture incontournable pour la compréhension des sources du mouvement moderne.

Celui-ci s'organise autour de trois figures centrales: les peintres Piet Mondrian et Theo van Doesburg et le concepteur de meubles et architecte Gerrit Rietveld.
Les autres membres du noyau originel sont les peintres Bart van der Leck, Georges Vantongerloo et Vilmos Huszar, les architectes JJP Oud, Robert van't Hoff et Jan Wills, le poète Anthony Kok, rejoints ensuite par le graphiste Piet Zwart et l'architecte Cornelis van Eesteren.
C'est en 1918, une année après la fondation officielle du groupe et la publication du premier numéro de la revue qui diffuse et rend publique la doctrine du mouvement, que les créateurs de De Stijl synthétisent de façon la plus explicite la vision esthétique et sociale qui les regroupe: le premier manifeste du groupe appelle à un nouvel équilibre entre l'individuel et l'universel et milite pour la libération de l'art des contraintes du culte de l'individualisme. Cette recherche de l'universel et l'UTOPIE partagées par les signataires du manifeste, pourraient se résumer dans cet aphorisme: Le but de la vie est l'homme, le but de l'homme est le Style.
Le Stijl, à la fois vision utopique et engagement dans la production du réel du monde industriel, prend ses sources à la fois dans la tradition hegelienne et le mouvement théosophique, alors largement répandu en Hollande.
Pour autant, c'est avant tout une transcription formelle, plastique, picturale ou architecturale des principes d'une harmonie universelle que les créateurs de De Stijl mettent en oeuvre.
La peinture, la sculpture, la conception de mobilier et le graphisme, l'architecture et bientôt l'urbanisme sont les supports de cette expérimentation conduite simultanément par les différents créateurs du groupe.
Pluridisciplinaires, les productions du Stijl le sont par nature, outrepassant les cloisonnements traditionnels et académiques entre arts majeurs et mineurs, entre arts décoratifs, architecture et urbanisme.
